More about this scene
The two gables on the left are part of a 15th-century house called The Chantry. The rest of the structure is Salters Hall, the highest quality timber-framed building in Sudbury. The wing nearest to us was built c1450, with a jetty supported by delicate shafts and an oriel window in the gable. The original hall now has an 18th- century mansard roof and a semi-circular window. In 1900 it was the home of Frederick Oates, Esq.
