Swimming In The Thames At Sunbury
A Memory of Sunbury.
We often went to the 'Beach' on the banks of the Thames, near to the swimming pool in the 1950's.
My Aunt DeDe , My Mam and Cousins, Billy & Keith Taylor' ,they lived in The Avenue' and my siblings would spend the day swimming in the River. A Picnic of Sandwiches and Welsh Bake stones and it was lovely. Now and again we would go into the swimming pool -but we had to pay so it was the River for us. Many folks don't realize that the banks of the River are sandy and back then the water was clean and then years later it became quite dirty and now is becoming clean again.
We went to Kenyngton Manor . My friend, Tina, had her Wedding reception at 'The Flower Pot,
