More about this scene
These three similar shots of St Michael's span half a century, but only in 1955 do we notice the restricted area of the burial ground around the church by the appearance of a substantial brick wall. St Michael's church is 1808 vintage, with additions of 1827-27. The yellow brick west tower has a re-used Norman zig-zag arch to the doorway.
