Swanage, The Promenade 1925

More about this scene
Since the opening of the railway, Swanage has vastly increased in favour as a watering-place; it is situated in a beautiful bay, and commands a glorious prospect of down and sea and cliff. The town of Swanage is unpretending, and its patrons will be those who do not crave for gaiety. The great interest in the neighbourhood is for the geologist: upwards of sixty quarries of Purbeck stone have contributed to St Paul's Cathedral.
