This is the south façade. The old house here was restored and rebuilt in 1840 by Lord Howden to the designs of Decimus Burton, a London architect, who was also responsible for Hyde Park Corner. The stone for Grimston came from the Tadcaster quarries of the Vavasour family from nearby Hazlewood Castle. In 1850 this 800-acre estate was sold to Lord Londesborough, and it was later to be owned by the Fielden family from Todmorden. In the past twenty years the house has been sub-divided into luxury
