More about this scene

Tankerton adjoins Whitstable to the east. It was developed by the Tankerton Estate Company, which was established in 1890. It had a pier which was opened in 1893, then demolished in 1913 as being no longer serviceable. The Embassy cinema on the right was opened as the Troc in 1931 and closed in 1950.

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

I was 8 in 1964 & used to Cycle down from Castle Road for a swim. I remember Tankerton for the fun of the slopes & the amazing water for swimming. I visit about twice a year. I reccommend a stay in the Marine Hotel on the road by Slopes
