The Grammar School, on Normanby Road, South Bank was opened in 1955. It was described as 'long desired', and was provided by the North Riding County Council in conjunction with Eston Urban District Council. Changes in administrative boundaries and education policy were later to alter its status significantly. The buildings are now part of the Gillbrook Technology College.
