Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

More about this scene

Tetbury's history dates to pre-Roman times, though the first written record appears in AD 681 in reference to a Saxon monastery. During the Middle Ages, the town's prosperity grew with the woollen industry, and it became an important yarn market. Tetbury was largely undisturbed by the Industrial Revolution, which is why this Cotswold gem retains so many ancient buildings of timeless charm.

Chipping Steps
I remember going to see an old family friend who lived in one of the houses on Chipping Steps. His name was Fred Cook. Fred was a very good friend of my dad's family (the Topps) who used to run Macfisheries on Market Street. My father Michael Topps, well his father Ernest and mother Norva, ran the business which is now a charity shop. Tetbury I call home even though I was not born there but my ancestors were.

Childhood Summer Hols
I visited my aunt and uncle for many years during the summer holidays. They lived in the house on the left of the photo. Their names were Charlie and Anne  Jones. My other aunt lived nearby on Gumstool Hill. Her name was Kate Chappell. I have fond memories of my visits to Tetbury as a child.

Another Chapter. 21  Church  Street.
This picture of Church Street taken in 1949 is special to me as it shows my second home. My father bought the shop (shown third left) in 1948. The property was built around 1750 but unfortunately had lost most of the period features it might have had, but the garden made up for everything, it was HUGE, not the sort of garden usually found in the middle of a town. Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
