A Memory of Thames Ditton.

We lived in Thames Ditton from about 1951 until 1963. We were in a shabby flat at first ,Warwick Buildings, Summers Road, before moving to a council house in Alexander road. The flats were still fitted with gas lights!
The island over the ' Penny bridge' was a fascinating mystery to us, we never had a penny to cross over! My grandmother , Mrs Isabella Dann ran the ferry tea rooms. She died in 1950 so we children never met her, she is interred in St Nicholas.
I loved school , Thames Ditton infants and junior. Although we did once bunk off with a girl called Pamela Storey for an afternoon. We were found at her house and got into big trouble.
My brother and twin sister went many times to play and paddle in bushy park, all day, no phones of course. Great fun! Can't imagine allowing my children to do that!

Fondest memories.
