Three Bridges, The Flood Gates 1906

More about this scene
The millpond for the old Hazlewick mill was fed by the River Mole, which flowed close to Three Bridges railway station (on the left through the trees). Flooding in the area still occurred despite the provision of flood gates to control the water levels. The old water mill may have closed as a result of the new steam mill, which opened near the station.
