Tolworth, The Broadway c.1960

More about this scene
The Broadway shopping parade was built in the 1930s with easy access for pedestrians. However, thanks to its position as a main route to the A3, traffic has increased; the thoroughfare has been cut in two by a central barrier, so that pedestrians now have to use an underpass. In the distance is the Odeon cinema, opened in 1934 and closed by 1959. It was demolished, and Tolworth Tower was built on the site in 1963.
