Remuir Street

A Memory of Tooting.

Hi does anyone remember the v1bomb that fell on Renmuir street ,there are flats there now where the bomb fell on the houses .If any one that lived in Renmuir Street at the time I would like to hear from you. Yes, I was there. I lived at 38a and the front door came up the stairs with the blast. I remember Mr. Good had come home from work and decided to stay in his flat and have his dinner while the family (Mrs Good and several children) went to the brick shelter that was built on the road (Where the entrance to Doland Court is now). Mr. Good was killed.
An Air Raid warden (a tall man who worked at Smith's) carried me out of our house to the shelter.
My parents were O.K. and we wound up in the Rest Centre at Hillbrook School and had our meals at the "Pleeze You" cafe in Tooting High Street.
Hi I,ve just received you message about Remuir street ,we was put in Hillbrook school as well .
My parents and brother got out safely ,thanks to my granddad who got help to dig us out as we got buried we lived at the begging of the street .
