More about this scene
This quiet little corner is on the north side of Torquay and reached by way of a romantic wooded ravine. There is no beach here, but the Victorians were determined to make the most of the warm waters. The bathing machine, sunk to its axles in the shallows, allowed decorum to be preserved.
