More about this scene
On the right is a half-timbered building that houses a bank. The short-lived Aberystwyth and Tregaron bank was established in 1810, and the Black Ox bank (Banc y Eidon Du), based in Llandovery, opened a branch in Tregaron in 1903. Both of these were established to save the drovers carrying large sums of money with them on their return journeys from the markets in England.
