More about this scene
This and photograph No 23535 are taken from Eel Pie Island, apparently named after the famous pies sold at the Island Tavern. Here the photographer looks towards St Mary's 14th-century church tower, with the triangular pediment of the Georgian nave, designed in 1714 by John James, to its right. The church is now more visible, for the house in front has since been demolished.
