More about this scene
We are looking eastwards into the Welsh mountains along the high street from the railway bridge. The entrance to the mainline station can be seen on the right, while the tower of St Cadfan's church is clearly visible in the centre of the picture. This church is one of the most interesting in Wales. It is cruciform, with a Norman nave, aisles and north transept. St Cadfan was one of the Three Blessed Visitors who came from Brittany in the 6th century; he was the founder and first abbot of the monastery on Bardsey Island.
