My Great Grandparents

A Memory of Uddingston.

I am researching my great grandparents lives and know that they lived in Uddingston when my Grandfather, Donald McNicol Smith was born in Uddingston in 1887. His parents were James David Smith and his wife Mary S(?) McNicol and I am just beginning to find out exactly where in the town/village they lived - but we can not read the entry on the Birth Certificate but it seems to be M....dge. Please does this make any sense as to a district, road or area in Uddingston?
James D Smith was a Steam Ship Steward working with the old Orient and then P & O NSC, probably on the SS Kashgar at some point. Any help would be really appreciated.

Hi Fran,
Thank you so much for replying, and yes I think that is the place, but it prompted someone to contact me about my family, and discovered that my Grandfather was her Father, and I have a whole family that I knew nothing about. We are as close as peas in a pod and I am so grateful to Francis Frith for bringing us together as a family, with my new cousins.
