More about this scene
Located at the corner of Stockerston Road and South Backway, West Bank was built in 1866 by Howard Candler, 'a small, energetic mathematician', who always refused to have more than six boys boarding. He was there for 34 years. In 1900 Rev Parmiter enlarged the capacity to 32 boys. Modernised in the 1950s with a new wing added, it provides a very homely house. Some of the additions can be seen to the rear.
