More about this scene
During the medieval period, grammar schools were founded for the education of scholars across the class spectrum, but by the 18th century, the so-called Great Schools had arrived in England. Founded in 1584 by Archdeacon Johnson in a single-roomed building, the Uppingham School complex expanded vastly during the last century.
