More about this scene

Behind the tree, the Big Schoolroom (1863) blends very well with the Tercentenary School House (1889) to form a quadrangle reminiscent of Oxbridge. After all, the architect Sir T G Jackson had contributed greatly to the colleges of late Victorian Oxford. The façades appear historic and full of detailed interest whilst the clock tower adds a touch of distinction. The chapel turret vies with the tall chimney of the Big Schoolroom.

The Falcon Hotel & The Titley Family
I had two sisters, one sadly deceased,who were friends with the Titley family who used to run/own (?) the Falcon Hotel.They used to visit the Titleys quite regularly in the 1940's. Jill Titley is in the photographs of my sister's wedding. My sister is now in her 90's.

From The 2nd World War
My grandparents lived at The Cottage in South View, Uppingham for 40 years from 1908 where he was a well known Director of Music at the public school. From a very early age during the second world war I made my first visit. Well down the hill at the front was the railway station, now a small industrial park, and beyond that I could see the Seaton Viaduct. One night there was a big fire at nearby Rockingham ...see more

However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
