First Supermarket In Crewe?

A Memory of Crewe.

I remember how exciting it was to go with my mother to the first supermarket we had ever been to.
Most of our groceries were bought from the Coop at the end of Lunt Avenue where they served you and from the butchers and other local shops. it was thought of a special treat to go to "Mark Down" I thnk that the date of 1965 is probably about right. Definitely before 1969.

I think the first supermarket in Crewe might have been Cee N'Cee on Edleston Road & Electricity Street.
I left Crewe in 1959 and there were two big supermarkets in the town centre. First to arrive was Midland Supermarket, they played music and made announcements about special offers etc.
Next to arrive was Carlines, another big store for its time.
