Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

Bradley Street Infants School

A Memory of Uttoxeter.

I was in the same class as Christine Fox and remember that the Infants headmistress was Miss Wilcox.The other teachers we had were Mrs Turner, Miss(Sally) Harper, Mr Wrench, and Miss(Audrey) Willisford.
I was browsing through some old photos and looked on my tablet for info about Bradley Street School and was surprised to find a comment from an old classmate.I went on to Alleynes Grammar School and continued into the 6th form, leaving in 1965.
I am Keith Hutchinson.

Was at the school from 1950 to 1956.
Miss Simcox was head of infants Mr Henderson head of Juniors.
Other teachers - 2 sisters named Miss Rees, Mrs Turner, Mrs Swift, Miss Beck, Mrs Jones.
In juniors - Mrs Hollins, Miss Goodall, Miss Rock, Mrs Hill, Mr Stanhope, Mr Collins, Mr Stewart, Mr Wrench

I was at the school from 1951 - 1958 and remember that Miss Wilcox had a secretary called Miss Wells who put a plaster on my forehead when someone threw a stone at me. My first class was Miss Rees (the plumper of the 2) then Mrs Turner, Miss Harper and Mr Wrench (who's classroom was in Carter St.). I was then in Miss Willisford's class and then Miss Goodall's for part of the year when 10 of us were moved up to Mr Stewart's class (in a hut next to Silver St.). My last class was Miss Rock's.

Here are a few more names that have come to mind from my class although I may be remembering some from the Girls’ High and they may not have been in Bradley Street…
Robert Oram, Henry Pugh, Robert Horden (I believe they were cousins) Frank Allsop, David Bostock, Angela Russell, Susan Dankworth, Sonia Gallimard, Barbara Hanley, (Rita Fanborough?)
I suppose it’s years of hearing the register being read out that some of those names are still in the memory bank!
