A B C Minors Saturday Morning At The Ritz

A Memory of Wallsend.

Queuing up to go and see our films on a Saturday morning and singing the song about the abc minors. The words are as follows. We are the boys and girls well known as minors of the abc and every Saturday we line up to see the films we like and shout aloud with glee we like to laugh and have our sing song just a happy crowd are we were all pals together we minors of the abc. When the films broke down as they often did we all use to bang our feet on the floor till they started again. My name was Kathleen Welsh and I went to St Columbus school - now Kathleen White I changed the name but not the letter I married for worse and not before better, but that’s not true I did okay for myself even though I say it myself.I used to live in Denham Terrace and I can remember the party after the war, up the cobbled street of sharpe road with all the bunting and different heights of the tables and all the lovely food and cakes. I must have been just 4 years old. My lovely memories.
