More about this scene
Sir Thomas Boteler, lord of the manor of Warrington, left provision in his will of 1526 to establish a school 'whereby men's sons might learn grammar to the intent that they might learn to know Almighty God'. The Boteler Grammar School was built in Bag Lane, off Church Street, on the outskirts of the medieval village of Warrington.
