Warrington Tanneries
A Memory of Warrington.
Hello Everyone,
Over the years I have been looking at my family history, in fact in 1985, while living in Shetland, I started to trace my family name. Now leaping forward to the start of this awful time, I commenced a more in depth search, finding that many of my family were in the Tanning Industry. Through various sources I have discovered that my paternal Grandfather lived with 13 other family members at the Howley Tannery in Warrington. The eldest son Joseph Forster becoming a Tannery owner/employer (according to the 1901 Census).
I would be very interested if anyone has pictures of Howley Tannery owned by J. C & W. N Hutchings Tannery in the 1880's.
I have managed to trace my Forster line back to 1666 to 9 x Great Grandfather Ralph Forster who was a farmer in Cheshire.
If there is anyone who could assist with any information I would be grateful. I'm also using Ancestry UK to locate information but some of the documentation is not as I had hoped.
