More about this scene
Bank Park was fashioned out of the private gardens of Bank Hall. Opened to the public in 1873, it was the only source of recreation for working-class families living in the crowded town centre courtyards. By 1900, adults could stroll in the fresh air and listen to a band, whilst children enjoyed the delights of an aviary and an aquarium.
