Nostalgia

A Memory of Washington.

I was born in my nanas house at Waterloo where my dad Harold bell had lived as a child with his 4 sisters Eleanor dot violet and Eileen he married my mam Winnie and moved to Brady sq in 1955 we lived there till I was 10 in Clyde tTce no 4 I think upstairs, loo in yard
I remember the kitchen cabnit and geezer which basically was the kitchen
I attended Biddick school at the bottom of the street in 1962 does anyone remember what the infant teacher was called I’ve been racking my brain
We played cricket and rounders in the street and the mam’s and dads joined in
We went to the park on our own and played out all day
I played with Audrey maynell Anne Reid Ann and June smith the twins and Susan Smith oh and many more I will find some old photos
My mam shopped at griefs we would have a cream cake on a Saturday with half pears on the top strange what you remember and she was in the Xmas club at the newsagent I recall a decanter she got there that played the tune how dry I am lol
My mam loved bingo and would go to johnnys a little shack next to Archie’s
My dad worked at cooks along from the school
If I remember rightly there was two sweet shops called Mary’s one next to the school and one oppisite Rutters I got my first roller skates there happy days
