School Memories

A Memory of Wath Upon Dearne.

I was at Wath Grammar School from 1952 until 1959. I have lots of lovely memories of my time there. In particular my teachers and school friends. I loved Barbara Swan - Geography teacher, Hetty Clewes (nee Upton) - history, and Eleanor Shawcross - girls PE. And pupils - Dave Short, Roy Carr, and Gary Bell.
When I left, I worked at Cortonwood Colliery and Elsecar Works for 5 years, then Park Gate Iron & Steel until 1968, then British Steel for 30 years. I retired in 1994, but am still working at the age of 70! I hope people will remember me!
