Here we see some of the forty arches of the Digswell, or Welwyn viaduct, built between 1848 and 1850 out of bricks fired on the site. Designed by Lewis Cubitt, it rises at its highest point to more than thirty metres above the River Mimram and dominates the surrounding area.
