Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

We are looking south along West Kirby's busy Promenade, with the marine lake to the right. The lake was built at a cost of £2,500; it was due to open on 14 October 1899, but severe weather intervened, and the opening was cancelled for one week. It is still a very popular venue, with yachts and dinghies sailing across its enclosed waters and the brightly coloured sails of wind-surfers zipping across its surface. At the far end of the Promenade is the world famous West Kirby Sailing Club.

Random Recollections Of The 1950's
Delivering newspapers for Foresters. Dancing lessons with Mrs Bretherton. Going to Haskins to buy model trains. Snogging in shelters on the promenade. Watching the sailing races. Does Anyone Have An Old Photograph Showing The Hardware Store On The Corner Of Westborne Road, West Kirby
Walking home from school down Whetstone Lane in 1949 to where I lived on Alexander Road with my Mum and Dad, brothers Philip, Kenneth, Bobbie and Len.

Carpenters Shoe Shop
My Nan, Jean, and late Grandfather Ron, owned this shop at 103 Banks Road, until around 1984/5. Nana has many fond memories of the area and her customers spanning quite a few years! As grandchildren, we used to have many an adventure in the 3 storey home, the extremely large garage to the rear and on trips over the sands to Hilbre via the chip n putt. Jubilee park for ice cream or fishing for tiddlers in Ashton Park are also recalled. My Nan sends her regards to all who recall her.

National Service And Finding My Wife!
On 3rd of June 1953 I arrived at West Kirby by steam train with a good many other RAF recruits who had been brought to the town to do their recruit training at Royal Air Force Recruit Training School West Kirby located at Larton, Wirral, Cheshire outside the town to the North East. Genealogy & Research Images

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
