More about this scene
West Runton was a sleepy village until Cromer and Sheringham began to be popularised as holiday resorts. After the First World War it was hoped that the village would enjoy a greater expansion as a holiday resort. Built with the guesthouse trade in mind, most of these houses actually became homes. Runton's population doubled between 1890 and 1930.
