More about this scene

Caption for Weston Super Mare, Claremont Crescent And Madeira Cove 1901: This clearly shows the fine sweep of elegant buildings that lined Glentworth Bay and the hillside. All these buildings were constructed between 1840 and 1870 and display a harmony somewhat lost today. Most would have originally been single family dwellings, run with the help of a large staff, and popular with retired surgeons, Indian Army officers and the like. By this date many had already been converted into hotels.
