More about this scene
Today the hall is a centre and retreat for missionaries from around the world. In the late 18th century it was the home of Rowland Hill, who became famous as a general in Wellington's army in the Peninsular War. One of 16 children, he and four of his brothers all fought at the Battle of Waterloo.
