A Memory of Westow.
I was born in Westow Croft in 1953 which I believe was a mother and baby home then. I was adopted and until I was in my 30’s had no idea of where I was from or any information about my biological family or the circumstances that led to my adoption.
I actually lived in York in the mid 70s and had I known would certainly have gone to see where I was born.
Times were certainly different then but I strongly believe that children should be told the truth about their beginnings.
Unfortunately that was not the case for me and I feel that this has impacted upon my life.
I will one day return to the place of my birth and hopefully lay some ghosts to rest.
