More about this scene
Once an important coaching town on the Great North Road, Wetherby went into decline for a number of years as long-distance stagecoach travel lost out to the railways. By 1909, however, Wetherby was fighting back, attracting passing tourist trade, and gearing up for the automobile. The town boasted two AA-listed hotels with garaging for cars. William Ward & Sons were the local AA agents.
