Caption for Whitley Bay, Spanish City C1955: Spanish City was built in ferro-concrete between 1908 and 1910 as a theatre and amusement arcade for Whitley Pleasure Gardens Ltd. The dome is thought to be one of the earliest ferro-concrete domes in Britain.
