Chalets Whitsand Bay

A Memory of Whitsand Bay.

My Fathers family of fishermen lived in Cawsand for generations and during my childhood in the early 1950's I used to stay with my Auntie Rose (Hammett) in the family chalet on Whitsand Bay. Mum & Dad staying with family in Cawsand.
My Aunt would be watching through a telescope for the fishing boats to return and my particular memory is watching for the flashes of the lighthouses on either side.
I found this quite magical.
With researching my Family History for many years I have tried to locate the Chalet, it seemed a very steep climb to reach the road to catch the Skinner bus (another family member) back to Cawsand.
Sometimes I had collected winkles to be cooked for tea, but was very dismayed when they started to crawl out of my bucket on the bus!
I would like to know the history of ownership of the chalets at Whitsand all I know now is that they get sold for unrealistic prices to people from up country, just as Cawsand is mostly second homes and holiday lets.
