I just found the Ramsden Bellhouse site and wrote in the guest book. My memories of Wickford are shopping there, watching cricket, catching the bus. I worked in London and more than once getting off the train in Wickford I would take the bus in thick fog with the conductor walking in front . I had lived in Basildon and married a Dagenham man in 1975, we moved to a turning called Woodfield on the newly built Moody Estate off Nevedon Road.  To go to the shops or rail station, we had to pass Hall's Corner.  I remember a green grocers (where I left behind a bag of tomatoes I had just brought), a newsagent and art shop being there back then.  I use to love going to the market just behind the shops.  We moved to ...see more
