More about this scene
This spectacular view was taken southwards towards the Eston Hills, and shows the great ICI Wilton Works, which was developed after the Second World War - the site extended for almost two miles. At its peak more than 15,000 people worked here, and the significant employment which it offered was very important to the local economy. It is still a large site, but is now operated by a variety of international chemical companies.
