Wimborne, Dean's Court Lane c.1955

More about this scene
The buildings in the foreground - including the Marchioness of Exeter's Almshouses - were demolished about 40 years ago and replaced by modern houses, garages and a car park. The gateposts mark the entrance to the Dean's Court Estate - the griffins' heads represent the Hanham family crest. In the distance, a window cleaner's ladders can just be seen in the High Street, and beyond them the sign of the Bell Hotel.
