The new dual carriageway was built all along this length of road, but fortunately all these buildings survive. The school in the foreground dates from 1906, and beyond it, Brunner Guildhall and Verdin Grammar School both date from the 1890s. The latter is now used by the Mid Cheshire College. The war memorial, however, has been moved.
