Woking, Chertsey Road 1898

More about this scene
This railway town was some two miles north of the original village of Old Woking. The London to Southampton railway arrived in 1838, and 'new' Woking began to develop. The town has mushroomed in size and been redeveloped since this picture was taken, and few of the Victorian buildings survive.
An extract from Surrey.
