Woodlesford School
A Memory of Woodlesford.
I started Woodlesford school about 1957, i remember been in my first class with a teacher called Miss Sawyer ( i think it was spelt ). Also a boy called David Goodwin i seem to belive that was his name. i loved play time at that school we had a climbing frame which i ended up with more blisters in my hand then i care to remember. I also remember a Mr Naylor who had a board of education which he did not hold back on slapping our backsides with it, i remember it well it was like a cricket bat but flat.
Also i remember a old lady's living in a very old delapadated house we used to walk past and i remember my sisters telling me she was a witch, that was on the road towards Leeds hill as we lived at on the avenue estate.if any body has any photos of that time i was there i would love to see them as i dont have any of when i was at school. I also remember a shoe shop with a Mr Slonker i think his name was, he was a lovely old man who always looked after me as i had a deformed foot. and the little sweet shop at the bottom of the hill, near the railway bridge.
