More about this scene

Caption for Wool, Bridge and Manor c1960: Thomas Hardy used the Manor at Wool as the setting for the disastrous honeymoon of Tess and Angel Clare in his novel 'Tess of the D'Urbervilles'. This was a most appropriate choice of location, for Wool Manor was once a seat of the real-life Turberville family. This beautiful bridge spans the River Frome.
