My father was the village Baker for many years Alf,s Pasties were legendary . I remember the war years in the ..Bake house the smells of baking can never be forgotten. The old golf course club building was a meeting place for us village lads, and occasionally a lass or two. When the yanks arrived things changed for us kids they loved us and we loved them ,Hot Dogs, chewing gum, Burgers ,Chocolate, children's parties for us kids. Dances for the adults in the Woolacombe Bay hotel with. its sprung floor. Whoopee. I Have lived in a golden age as a child. and an adult,I have in my life been an apprentice tool maker and a farm labourer,a soldier for 3 years a semi skilled worker in a domestic appliance manufacturer factory, twice,a wholesale ice cream delivery man A vehicle repair mechanic,a car salesman and finally 35 years with the gas industry as firstly a domestic sales rep,, Door knocking, .progressing to Industrial sales Engineer.
