Woolverstone, St Michael's Church c.1955

More about this scene
The church is surrounded by the parkland of Woolverstone Hall. The exterior looks unusual because the church was rebuilt three times by the Berners family between 1830 and 1890. The porch stands against the nave of 1864, the chancel of which is black flint with stone courses. In 1888-90 a new nave and chancel were built over the north aisle of 1830, which left the earlier church as the new south aisle and chapel.
