More about this scene

The hotel's old name was the Dumpling Inn because of the annual custom of eating dumplings in broth. In the early 20th century there were still many thatched cruck-built cottages, but now this is a village beloved by rich commuters. Its windmill has been restored by Dr J Ward. The village green is the largest in the Fylde and is graced by a duck-pond and the original village pump (other pumps were melted down and used for jointing new water mains by the Fylde Water Board).
