RE: RE: Happy Days in Hulme

Sorry to say Bryan has got it wrong. Upper Chorlton Road was never in Hulme...the top end was in Chorlton, bottom end, near Brookes Bar, was in Whalley Range. RAMC still on Kings Road, active as ever. The shops shown in the photo are still there. The area has changed a lot since Bryan left for New Zealand, and not for the better.

RE: RE: Happy Days in Hulme

Days in HULME....my cousin Rose has a site on Facebook....HULME,C.on M, ALL SAINTS. ARDWICK.....Put this in search box. The site is amazing, it's open to the public for comments and pics. If anybody lived in these areas in the 1950s to 80s and were rehoused after slum clearance, you're sure to know somebody. Any new pics old or new most welcome. Thanks.. Frank M.

RE: RE: Happy Days in Hulme

I am hopeful you may be able to assist me. My husband was born in 1955 at 157 Upper Chorlton Road. My understanding is he was born at a nursing/maternity home. I have been unsucessful in locating the name of the facility. Was wondering if you may be able to help.

Thanks,

RE: RE: Happy Days in Hulme

I was born at Saint Mary's Hospital, brought up in Hulme in the 1950s, moved in the 1960s to a new house in Cheshire. It's a shame so many of the old places have been knocked down. I lived on Humberstone Avenue. Does anyone remember where the Lincoln pub was where it used to be? Thanks, Bill. PS - I am on Facebook if you would like to get in touch, and anyone that knows Peter Green that lived on Humberstone Avenue as well, please get in touch.
