Caption for Acle, the Windmill c1929: Now long-disused, this is one of many 19th-century pump mills built to lift water from the drained marshes. The mill has now lost its sails, but not its inverted boat-style cap.

Memories of Acle

I am looking for a church called Heringby or St Ethelbert Church where my ancestor Hugh Atte Fenne was buried in the chancel next to his mother. He bequeathed money to rebuild the tower, roof and porch around 1474 when he died. He also founded a college and an almshouse for the poor. Could this be the same church?
