One of the most frequently-painted sites on the Broads was the old Acle Bridge with its three arches, which we see here. The bridge has frequently been rebuilt - repairs were first recorded in 1101. It was rebuilt most recently in about 1930, and was replaced with a concrete model in 1997. A hire boat yard now occupies the site around the dyke where the dinghies are moored. The car and charabanc parked on the opposite bank show that Acle was an attraction for trippers between the wars.
